Full-Day Tour of Amchang Tea Estate

Amchang Tea Estate, located near Guwahati, offers an immersive experience of Assam’s world-famous tea culture. This itinerary includes a tea garden walk, tea tasting, and a relaxing countryside experience.

Depart from Guwahati

Post breakfast, we shall pick you up from the meeting point and you will start your journey from Guwahati (approx. 1-hour drive) via Narengi Road. Enjoy scenic views of lush green landscapes and the outskirts of the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary.

Arrival at Amchang Tea Estate

On arrival, you will meet the estate guide and get an introduction to the history of Assam Tea. Learn about the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of tea leaves. 

Guided Tea Garden Walk

You shall then be taken for a walk through the vast, lush green tea plantations. If luck favours, you may see tea pluckers. Observe tea pluckers at work and understand the techniques for selecting the best tea leaves. Breathe in the fresh, fragrant air and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Leisure & Photography

After a long walk in the garden, relax in the serene surroundings and take stunning photographs of the rolling tea gardens. Rest for a while before we head out for lunch.

Lunch at a Nearby Ethnic Resort

Head to a nearby ethnic resort for a traditional Assamese meal as lunch. Enjoy a thali with bamboo shoot curry, tenga, rice, and local chutneys. Look around the property.

Visit factory

After a sumptuous meal, you will return to the estate to visit the factory and see how fresh tea leaves are processed into the final product. Observe and learn about withering, rolling, oxidation, drying, and packaging.

Tea Tasting Session

Participate in a tea tasting session with estate experts. Taste different varieties of Assam tea, including CTC, Orthodox, and Green Tea. Learn about the flavors, aromas, and brewing techniques for the perfect cup of tea.

Buy Fresh Assam Tea

If available at the factory, purchase freshly packed tea leaves from the estate as a souvenir for yourself and friends and family. 

Return to Guwahati

It is time to return to your base, Guwahati. Depart back to Guwahati with a refreshing experience of Assam’s tea culture.

If necessary, on reaching the city, you may stop at a tea stall or a cafe for evening tea and snacks after which you will be dropped off at your desired locations. However, the driver has to be informed about a last stop before starting from Amchang.
